Lisa Chen is an artist from Taiwan. She graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design with a degree in Sculpture and Integrated Studio Arts. She now resides and works in Surrey, BC, Canada.
As a visual artist, Lisa enjoys working in diverse mediums and creating interactive art. She often investigates the concept of time and space. She finds it fascinating how we are all related to them as a whole, or in smaller intervals. Exploration and experimentation are the most interesting moments in the process of art making for Lisa.
Lately, Lisa has been playing with clear vinyl and light. The transparent quality of the material is able to capture lights within the physical forms of the artwork as a dynamic space, which also allows an ongoing conversation between the stillness of the piece and the timelessness of the content and its environment.
When Lisa is not making art, she is either teaching or travelling. In addition to painting, artist’s books, and sculpture, she is also interested in web development, photography, graphic design, and creating props and sets for theatre productions.
